Several Iowa hockey players key to U.S. win in Canada

January 3, 2006 By admin

Several U.S. Hockey League all-stars helped lead the U.S. to a bronze medal at the Viking Cup tournament over the weekend in Canada. A weekend over-time loss to a team of Canadian All-Stars put the U.S. in the consolation game against Switzerland on Monday. The U.S. scored a come-from-behind win over Switzerland, with a Des Moines Buccaneer scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals in the second period. A Waterloo Black Hawk added an insurance goal.
