Mt. Pleasant woman won’t face charges in daughter’s death

January 4, 2006 By admin

A southeast Iowa mother who forgot to stop at the babysitter on the way to work last summer will not face charges in her daughter’s death. The death of a one-year-old Mount Pleasant child was ruled accidental by the Henry County medical examiner on Tuesday, and County Attorney Michael Riepe says his office will not pursue criminal charges against the child’s mother. On August 18th of last year, Danelle Stainbrook discovered she’d left her daughter, Peyton Burchett, in the infant seat of her car while she was at work at the Henry County Health Center. The medical examiner determined the death was accidental due to heat stroke. Outside temperatures that day reached 94-degrees. Riepe says there was no evidence Stainbrook intended to harm the girl.
