The Republican Co-President of the Iowa Senate will not step down from that post as he campaigns for Congress. Jeff Lamberti, a lawyer from Ankeny, announced last year that he would seek to oust incumbent Democrat Congressman Leonard Boswell of Des Moines from his third district congressional seat. But Lamberti today (Wednesday) made it clear he will not give up his leadership post in the legislature. Lamberti says he can keep the co-president job since he doesn’t have an opponent in the June 6th republican primary. Lamberti goes back to work with the rest of the legislators when the new session begins Monday.
