Drake women go on the road

January 19, 2006 By admin

The Drake women are on the road tonight in Missouri Valley action to take on Evansville. After struggling in the pre-conference schedule the Bulldogs are off to a 4-1 start in conference play and are riding a three game winning streak. Drake coach Amy Stephens says added depth this year is beginning to pay off. Last season the Bulldogs had only eight players.

Stephens says they’re finding themselves as a team and she says you can see in the league what a few injuries can do, so it’s a joy to have 13 kids. Stephens says the biggest surprise has been the play of freshman point guard Jordann Plummer. She says Plummer has kept her turnovers down and is on the verge of exploding offensively.
Evansville is 3-3 in the Valley after a pair of close losses on the road.
