Monona County investigates death of baby

January 28, 2006 By admin

The Monona County Sheriff’s office is investigating the death of a baby girl found Friday morning at a home in rural Smithland. Around 8:30 Friday morning a 911 call to Monona County reported an unresponsive child at a home in Smithland, about 20 miles northeast of Onawa.

When authorities arrived they found a two-year-old girl dead. The sheriff’s office learned the child had been seen by a doctor within the previous 24 hours for some type of medical condition. They’ve ruled out foul play for now, and haven’t released any names, but investigation continues.
