Victim identified in Clinton fire

January 30, 2006 By admin

The young victim of fatal fire at a Clinton apartment complex Sunday has been identified. Clinton County Medical Examiner Doctor Paul Koob says the victim was three-month-old Contrail Louis, the son of Pam Lovette. He said the autopsy is being conducted by the state medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death.

The Clinton Fire Department has determined the fire was accidental in nature and most probably started by unattended cooking materials left on an electric range. Fire Chief Mark Regenwether says the city had been working with the property owner on corrections needed to meet the housing code, but the units had-not been shut down. He said they had water, gas and electric service. Several other people in the apartment unit escaped safely. Damage is estimated at 100-thousand dollars to the building and 25-thousand dollars to the contents.
