The 3A semifinals are set at girl’s state basektball tourney

March 9, 2006 By admin

Spots in the Class 3A championship game will be set after tonight’s semifinal round action. Norwalk is second ranked and will try to knock off defending champion Cedar Rapids Xavier. The Saints are ranked third and got a late free throw to edge Spirit Lake 30-29 in the opening round.

Norwalk coach Brent Walker says his team will need to find ways to score against a tough Xavier defense. Harlan has reached the semifinals and if Cyclone coach Mike Vis feels obligated to get his team to this point it is easy understand why. The school has been winning state championships in a number of sports in recent years and Vis says all the coaches feel they need to do their part.

Harlan plays top ranked Ballard in the semifinal round. The Bombers are 25-0 after rolling past Carroll Kumper in Tuesday’s opening round.
