Upper Iowa names new basketball coach

March 14, 2006 By admin

Upper Iowa has announced the new men’s basketball coach for the only Division II program in Iowa. Brian Dolan has been hired to his first head coaching job. Dolan has spent a number of stints as an assistant coach, including most recently the College of Southern Idaho were they won their region and advanced to the National Junior College Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Dolan replaces Dave Martin, who resigned at the conclusion of the 05-06 season after six years as head coach and ten years as an assistant. Dolan sets his sight high for his inaugural year. He says they’ll be a tough hard-nosed basketball team that shoots the ball well.

Dolan feels the atmosphere at Upper Iowa will lead to success. He says everyone seems to be supportive of everyone else. The Peacocks will compete in it’s first season as a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference member.
