Mills County accident claims one life

April 13, 2006 By admin

One person was killed, another injured, in a crash in western Iowa’s Mills County on Wednesday. The Iowa State Patrol says two men — 78-year old Donald Wassenaar and 39-year old Kirt Moseman — were traveling south on the Interstate 29 off-ramp to U.S. Highway 34 when Wassenaar failed to slow for the intersection. His 2002 Chrysler continued through the stop sign and ran off the roadway.

The vehicle sailed 92-feet through the air before hitting the ground, crashing through a fence and continuing for another 100-feet before coming to rest in a field. Both men were taken to the hospital, where Wassenaar was pronounced dead. A report on Moseman’s condition was not available.
