Hunt on for Marshalltown hit-and-run suspect

April 17, 2006 By admin

Marshalltown Police are seeking help from the public in a fatal hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning. Police called early Sunday morning to the city’s south side found a badly injured man, and Marshalltown Police Chief Lon Walker says the man’s wife told them they’d been in a minor accident shortly before that.

Their car was disabled and he got out and then was hit by someone else, and dragged an estimated 300 yards. The man died at the scene. Chief Walker says their suspect may be an illegal immigrant who’s afraid to come forward and talk with police.
“Just because someone is an illegal alien doesn’t mean that we would share that information with Immigration Services,” the chief says.
He wants to find out what caused the victim’s death, and says the legal status of a witness isn’t important at this point. Anyone who can help solve the case is asked to contact Marshalltown police.
