Buena Vista inmate faces more charges

July 6, 2006 By admin

An inmate facing charges of murder and attempted murder is facing yet more charges after two incidents at the Buena Vista County Jail. According to the sheriff’s department, 18-year-old Jose Tovar of Storm Lake allegedly grabbed a jailer by her hair. In a separate incident, he allegedly struck a deputy sheriff in the face while being escorted to another cell.

The injuries to the deputy and the assisting jailer were minor. Tover’s now been charged with serious assault and assaulting an officer. Tovar is charged with first-degree murder, and two counts of both attempted murder and willful injury. He’s accused of killing his older brother and trying to kill his parents in February at their Storm Lake home.
