Waterloo man given jail time for cell phone porn

October 25, 2006 By admin

A Waterloo man who was charged with having child pornography on his cell phone has been sentenced to over five years in prison. Twenty-two-year-old Justin Van Dyke had pleaded guilty in April to one count of possession of child pornography. Van Dyke admitted that in March of 2004 he used his cell phone to take and store a sexually-explicit photograph of a 15-year-old girl.

Shortly after taking the photo, Van Dyke showed the picture to several co-workers. He also sent the picture from his cell phone to another person’s cell phone. Van Dyke was sentenced Tuesday in Federal Court in Cedar Rapids to 63 months in prison. He must also register as a sex offender.
