Spencer woman accused of running puppy farm

January 9, 2007 By admin

A Spencer woman is accused of running a bogus on-line puppy farm. Police say they arrested Constance Englert at her home. Investigators say Englert would get money orders for puppies that were ordered on-line. Englert would forward the money to another person but allegedly no dogs were ever shipped.

Victims were contacted by yet another person demanding more money to cover shipping. Detectives showed up with a search warrant at her home. Police say money orders, money gram receipts, a computer and a list of victims were seized.

Englert faces a count of second degree theft and second degree fraudulent practices. Both are Class-D felonies. Police say they’re still investigating and more charges could be filed.
