Northwest Iowa Girl Scout camp reopens

June 18, 2007 By admin

The Girl Scout camp in northwest Iowa that shut down last week after a worker came down with bacterial meningitis has reopened.

That 20-year-old camp worker, a junior at the University of South Dakota, started working at the camp before learning of the infection. She died last week.

The 360-acre camp closed down so staff and campers could be immunized. The camp opened yesterday and camp officials say they’ll continue all summer programs.

They add that no one has withdrawn from camp and there have been no other cases of bacterial meningitis reported from the camp.
