Indy cars practice for big event

June 22, 2007 By admin

The Indy Cars are taking their practice runs at the Iowa Speedway in preparation for Sunday’s Iowa Corn Indy 250. Qualifying runs are tomorrow afternoon and driver Scott Sharp says how the cars are set-up will be the most important factor.

Sharp says downforce is going to be a big question, as he says to be in the top four, you will probably have a minimal amount of downforce. He says you’re probably going to want to ride on the bottom and that will require some downforce.

Another factor will be the weather. Temperatures are race time are expected to top 90 degrees, as hot conditions take away the amount of downforce.

The Indy Pro Series race will highlight Saturday afternoon’s action. Joey Scarallo is in his rookie year as part of the series. This weekend is the first time he has been on the track, and he expects it to be similar to Milwaukee. The Iowa Corn Indy 250 is Sunday afternoon.
