Newton race gives national exposure to E-85

June 23, 2007 By admin

The inaugural "Iowa Corn Indy 250" in Newton Sunday will be televised by ABC. The exposure could give a boost to an already booming business. Shannon Textor is the Director of Market Development with the Iowa Corn Growers Association.

"In 2006, E-85 sales grew over 295 percent from our 2005 sales," Textor says, "and in the past two years we’ve seen over 600 percent sales growth." Textor says more Americans, as they begin to understand ethanol, are purchasing vehicles that can run on E-85.

She claims one out of every 10 motorists is buying a flex fuel vehicle. There are currently 61 gas stations in Iowa that sell E-85. A list of those stations can be found on-line at www.IowaCornEthanol.com .
