Study says Iowa has shortest emergency room wait

June 27, 2007 By admin

If you need to dash to an emergency room, Iowa’s apparently the place to do it the fastest. A national study finds Iowa has the speediest average for emergency room visits, with two-hours, 18-minutes. That’s well ahead of the national average, which is almost an hour-and-a-half longer.

The top five fastest states, behind Iowa, are Nebraska, South Dakota, Vermont and Wisconsin. The study from Press Ganey Associates found Americans spend the longest in E-Rs in Florida, New York, Utah, Maryland and Arizona had the slowest emergency room visits at nearly five hours, more than twice Iowa’s time.
