Body found in Clinton near river

Authorities in Clinton are investigating the discovery of a body on a flood control levee underneath the U.S. Highway 30 bridge along the Mississippi River. Captain Randy Meier, Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division, said police responded shortly after 8:30 this morning, after a worker employed by the U.S. Highway 30 bridge painting contractor reported finding a dead person on the levee, beneath the bridge.

Both police and the medical examiner staff are investigating the scene to determine the circumstances of the death. Police are also making every effort to learn the identity of the deceased.
