Officials charge five with cheating at Osceola casino

July 14, 2007 By admin

A handful of people have been charged with cheating at the casino near Osceola.

D.C.I. agents who monitor the floor of the Lakeside Casino suspected a dealer was helping some casino patrons cheat at the game of mini baccarat.

A week-long investigation concluded Friday with the arrest of five people — including the casino insider. All five have been charged with theft and cheating at a gambling game.

Authorities who reviewed surveillance tapes say 22-year-old baccarat dealer Larry Shepherd was caught switching cards and paying losers at the table at least $12,000. According to investigators, Shepherd admitted the scheme during questioning and authorities arrested four others who were involved.
