Name of victim in truck crash released

July 17, 2007 By admin

One truck driver was killed, another injured, when two semis collided Monday afternoon near Woolstock in Wright County. The Iowa State Patrol said the name of the dead driver is 57-year-old Bob Tjaden of Gilmore City. The driver of the other truck is identified as 52-year-old James Leliefield of Guttenburg.

Leliefield was taken to Hamilton Hospital in Webster City for treatment of his injuries. Reportedly a westbound semi operated by Leliefield was turning south into a gravel quarry drive into the path of an eastbound semi driven by Tjaden. The Leliefield semi remained upright on the edge of the roadway. The other semi continued in a northeasterly direction rolling down a ditch embankment ejecting Tjaden where it then caught fire.

Tjaden died at the scene. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
