One driver killed when two trucks crash near Woolstock

July 17, 2007 By admin

A truck driver was killed Monday afternoon when his big rig collided with another semi-truck near Woolstock in Wright County. The Iowa State Patrol said the name of the fatality is being withheld until all relatives are notified.

The name of the injured was released and identified as 52-year-old James Leliefield of Guttenburg. Leliefield was taken to Hamilton Hospital in Webster City for treatment of his injuries. Reportedly a westbound semi operated by Leliefield was turning south into a gravel quarry drive into the path of an eastbound semi driven by the victim.

The Leliefield semi remained upright on the edge of the roadway. The other semi continued in a northeasterly direction rolling down a ditch embankment ejecting the driver where it then caught fire. Cause of the accident remains under investigation.
