The motorist believed responsible for a hit-and-run crash that killed a Fort Dodge woman Sunday morning has turned himself in. Nineteen-year-old Cia Thornton was killed after she was struck by a car in a Fort Dodge neighborhood with the driver leaving the scene.
Wednesday, 20-year-old Ramonte Altman of Fort Dodge arrived at the Webster County Law Enforcement Center with his relatives. No formal charges have been filed against Altman at this time but the family members of Thornton said they recognized Altman as the driver. Altman was wanted on outstanding warrants of domestic assault and violation of probation unrelated to Sunday’s hit and run incident.
Altman is currently being held at the Webster County Law Enforcement Center in Fort Dodge with out bond for the domestic assault charge and 19-hundred-50 dollars on the probation violation. Officials in the Webster County Attorney’s are determining what charges to bring in the hit and run incident. Today, Altman is scheduled to make his initial appearance on the charges and the possible charges relating to the hit and run incident.
