Knoxville back on schedule after rainout

August 9, 2007 By admin

Qualifying for the 47th annual Knoxville Nationals got rained out last night at the Knoxville Raceway . Raceway boardmember Rick Stevenson says they’ve moved the schedule around a bit. He says the Wednesday night races are moved to Friday night, tonight’s races go on as scheduled, Friday races were moved to noon Saturday, and the Saturday night main event will be run as scheduled baring any more rain.

The rain Wednesday left the track a muddy mess, but Stevenson says it’s getting better. Stevenson says as far as he knows, they’re working on the track and it is drying and will be good to go tonight. Stevenson says you can still get a ticket for the races.

Stevenson says they hope for a big crowd and dry weather for Saturday night’s finals. As a boardmember Stevenson says he hopes to sell out the finals, and says they can deal with the heat, but not the water. This year’s purse is $913,000 and with the winner’s share $150,000.
