Luther football team looks to bounce back

August 21, 2007 By admin

The Luther College football team is looking to bounce back this season. After three consecutive 6-4 campaigns the Norse slipped to 2-8 in 2006, their worst season since 1999. Sixth year coach Paul Hefty says all aspects of the program were examined in the off season.

Hefty says they talked about it, dissected it, to find the errors they made and came up with a plan to correct it. The offensive line is a strength and that should allow the Norse to have an effective running game. Hefty says they want to get the ball in the hands of their playmakers, so they’ll run the ball more.

An inability to win close games were a big factor in 2006. Four of Luther’s losses were by seven points or fewer. The Norse open the season September first at St. Olaf.
