A Corning man is jailed after he triggered an Amber Alert early Tuesday. Red Oak police got a call just after midnight this morning of a burglary and kidnapping at a Red Oak home. They found that 28-year-old Ricky Jason Ewart of Corning broke into the rear door and assaulted the occupants, 22-year-old Marcella Austin and 18-year-old Tyler Sutton.
Ewart then left, taking his son, 17-month-old Brandon Austin. Taylor county authorities found and arrested Ewart about three hours later. The boy was returned to his mother unharmed. Ewart has been charged with violating a custodial order, child endangerment, two counts of assault, domestic abuse and burglary.
During the transfer of custody to Red Oak police, Ewart was taken to the local hospital for injuries received during the incident. Ewart is being held on 52-thousand dollars bond.
