Training exercise ends up in training house burning down

October 4, 2007 By admin

A routine training exercise for law officers in northeast Iowa has resulted in a fire that gutted a house.  The training session involved sheriff’s deputies assigned to Black Hawk County’s Tactical Team. The unit was participating in a routine training exercise at an abandoned house in Janesville Wednesday when the structure caught fire.

Officials say a tear gas shell fired inside the home ignited sawdust insulation. Firefighters were called to home, but they decided to let the structure burn to the ground since it was already scheduled for demolition.
