Regents elect new leader

December 5, 2007 By admin

The board that governs the three state-supported universities elected a new leader today.  The Board of Regents elected David Miles of West Des Moines as its new president on a unanimous voter during a telephone conference call this morning.

Miles, who was as the board’s president pro-tem, will replace Michael Gartner who announced he is stepping down to allow a new leader time to prepare for the lobbying process in the upcoming legislative session. Miles will take over as president of the board on January 1st. Miles is chief financial officer of Countryside Renewable Energy Incorporated, and is one of four new regents appointed last spring by Governor Chet Culver.
