ISU plans to stick with 2 QB system

September 2, 2008 By admin

Gene Chizik Iowa State coach Gene Chizik plans to stick with a two quarterback system when the Cyclones host Kent State this weekend. Austen Arnaud is the starter but Phillip Bates also played in a 44-17 season opening win against South Dakota State.

Chizik says they went into the game with a plan on what they wanted to do and then made changes as the game went on. He says both did a nice job Thursday and they will go in with the same plan.

Chizik says both will play this weekend and they will see what happens as the game unfolds. He says that’s the way it will be until things change. Chizik says the Cyclones have a number of areas that need improvement but he was happy with the defense generating six turnovers in the opener.

Chizik says sometimes turnovers come all at once, and other times it takes awhile, but he says getting so many in one game showed what happens when you get them.
