Electrolux lays off more workers in Webster City

December 3, 2008 By admin

There’s been another round of layoffs for Hamilton County’s largest employer. Officials of Electrolux Home Products in Webster City announced yesterday that 20 people will be out of a job as of next Monday, December 8th.

Last month, 99 workers at the washer and dryer manufacturer were let go. Electrolux spokesman Tony Evans said the layoffs are being done in accord with labor agreements and are related to seniority. Another factor is due to the current economic situation.

There are approximately 1,400 people that work at the manufacturer. If market conditions improve, Evans said the workers could be recalled.
