Three die in weekend accidents

April 6, 2009 By admin

Three people died in separate accidents over the weekend in southwest Iowa. All three crashes occurred early Sunday morning. Two accidents in Mills County claimed the lives of a Malvern man and an unidentified driver who appears to have been from Missouri.

The Iowa State Patrol says 22-year-old Matthew Buckner, of Malvern, died at an Omaha hospital, after the van he was driving went out of control and rolled several times, trapping him inside at around 2:15 A.M. The other accident in Mills County took place about an hour earlier, near Glenwood.

Sheriff’s officials say a 1992 Lexus with Missouri plates went out of control on a curve and rolled into a ditch. The unidentified driver — who was not wearing a seatbelt — was partially ejected and died at the scene. And, an accident Sunday morning in eastern Fremont County claimed the life of a Shenandoah woman.

Forty-year-old Julie Ann Malmberg was killed when the van she was driving went off the road and hit a culvert. All three accidents remain under investigation.
