DOT to sell used equipment

April 14, 2009 By admin

State-owned furniture, office supplies and automotive parts will be auctioned off later this month in Ames. Mike Holl with the Iowa Department of Transportation says there’s a wide variety of shop equipment too. He says most of the various parts and tools are still in decent shape.

Someone looking to start up a business could find just about everything they need for an office. Holl says the office equipment includes copiers, fax machines, fire extinguishers and used tables, desks and chairs. The D.O.T.’s also selling equipment, such as snow blowers, that were used at Iowa State University.

The public auction will take place a week from Saturday on the D.O.T. grounds in Ames, but potential buyers can check out the items for sale on Friday. Holl says the sale starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 25th, while the pre-sale inspection is 8 to 4 on Friday the 24th.

A listing of the auction items is also available on the D.O.T.’s website .
