Two men face charges in Plymouth County drug overdose

May 19, 2009 By admin

Two men face charges after autopsy results showed a northwest Iowa man died of a prescription drug overdose in January. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s office reports an investigation determined the medication 20-year-old Nicholas Clay of Akron took was illegally obtained.

Two men were arrested after a Sioux City residence was searched Monday. Eighteen-year-old Paul Bringman of Akron is charged with involuntary manslaughter and delivery of a controlled substance. Thirty-nine-year-old Stuart Edward Barton of Sioux City is charged with delivery of a controlled substance.

Bringman and Barton are being held in the Plymouth County Jail. The sheriff’s and county attorney’s offices are still investigating and additional charges are likely.
