It will be an easy transition for Jeff Zomer as he takes over as the new softball coach at Dodrt College. Zomer graduated from the school and has spent time on two different coaching staffs.
Zomer was a student at the school from 2002-206, graduated and went away for a year and then came back for a year as interim baseball coach. Last year he came back as assistant baseball and softball coach, so he has plenty of experience on campus.
Dordt was 21-24 this past season under former coach Tim Covey. Zomer says the softball team made a trip to the nationals a few years ago, and then had some struggles, but rebounded last year, and he says it’s an exciting program to be a part of.
Zomer says the success of other programs at the school have him convinced the softball program can win. He says they have a widespread recruiting base that he feels helps their success.
