Spartans confident as they prepare for unbeaten Iowa

October 22, 2009 By Todd Kimm

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio says the Spartans will take on a confident team when they host the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday night. The Hawks have found a way to win close games during a 7-0 start and already have two Big Ten road victories at Penn State and Wisconsin.

Dantonio says winning those games give you confidence and he says Iowa has played on the road and won and he says they have been able to win with defense, offense and special teams.

The Spartans are riding a three game winning streak and would put themselves in the thick of the title chase with a win. He says they scratched back from 1-3 to 4-3 and this is the next challenge and a good opportunity for them. Dantonio says they have had close games with Iowa the last two years.

Dantonio says a key will be limiting mistakes against the Iowa defense. He says the entire defense is well coached and what you see if what you get, as they won’t do anything special to beat you. He say you have to beat them.
