Popular Fort Dodge restaurant destroyed by fire

March 1, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

An eatery in north-central Iowa went up in flames over the weekend. A popular Fort Dodge restaurant was destroyed as the result of a fire early Sunday morning. Fort Dodge firemen were called to the Mineral City Mill and Grill on Fifth Avenue South at around 3:30 in the morning.

When firemen arrived, flames were shooting out of the roof of the restaurant. Fort Dodge Fire Department authorities said the fire appears to have started in the kitchen with the cause of the blaze under investigation. The building was termed a total loss. No one was inside at the time of the fire.
