Iowa City man arrested in stabbing

June 7, 2010 By Dar Danielson

Iowa City police have charged a man with attempted murder in a stabbing last week. A man called Johnson County 9-1-1 dispatchers June 1st to report he’d been stabbed, but didn’t know where he was. Dispatchers were able to locate the man on an Iowa City street using his cellphone signal. The man had several stab wounds.

The victim was taken to the hospital and still remains there getting treatment. The investigation by Iowa City police led to the arrest of 52-year-old Raymond Lee Spears on an attempted murder charge. The victim was able to identify Spears, who police say has no known address.
