Muscatine couple killed in Michigan accident

June 28, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A Muscatine couple, killed in a Michigan accident last week, will be laid to rest on Tuesday. Sixty-two-year-old David Awbrey and his 58-year-old wife, Karen, died Thursday afternoon in a tragic, three-vehicle crash in Delta County, Michigan.

They were riding their 2002 Honda Goldwing motorcycle, traveling south on highway M-35, when the cycle collided with a northbound vehicle. The county sheriff says a northbound Chevy Impala stopped on the highway and was rear-ended by a northbound Volkswagen Beetle.

That pushed the Impala into the southbound lane, and the Awbrey’s motorcycle collided with the car’s passenger side. David Awbrey died at the scene. Karen Awbrey died later at a hospital.
