Driver in fatal accident near Jesup identified

January 18, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Buchanan County authorities have released the name of a man killed in an accident on a rural Jesup farm. Fifty-four-year-old Steve Rasey of Whitewater, Wisconsin was in the process of delivering drainage tiles to a farm near Jesup Monday morning.

Rasey’s semi became stuck in the snow. In an effort to free his rig, he became pinned between the front of his semi and a fork lift. Rasey was found unconscious by the farmer and was taken by ambulance to the Independence Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Emergency crews were hampered by the snow that was drifting onto the rural roads.
