Northwestern looking to end 3 game skid against the Hawkeyes

October 11, 2011 By Todd Kimm

Northwestern has lost three straight games and in the last two weeks the Wildcats have aquandered second half leads against Illinois and Michigan. Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald says they feel like they are backed into a corner when they are not making things happen to win.

The Wildcats have been a thorn in Iowa’s side. They have come away with a win in three straight trips to Kinnick Stadium. Fitzgerald says they have taken care of the ball in those games and have won on third down. He says that will be critical again on Saturday.

Northwestern has done a good job on third down against the Hawks in recent years but Fitzgerald says that has been a struggle in recent weeks. He says they have been in position to win in the last three games, but have not done it and they have to make the plays and keep on fighting.
