Cedar Falls looks to close out unbeaten regular season

October 21, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

The top ranked team in Class 4A is approaching their Week 9 game as if it is a playoff contest. Cedar Falls hosts Iowa City West tonight, and the Tigers could have their hands full with the Trojan offense, which is triggered by dual threat quarterback Charles Rogers.

Cedar Falls co-head coach Pat Mitchell says that Rogers has a lot of different ways he can attack a defense. He says they come out of the shotgun and can throw anywhere and can also take off and run. Mitchell says that West also has a pair of very talented defensive ends that could cause some disruptions in the Tiger backfield.

He says defensively the ends will fly in at you and they are both outstanding players that you have to deal with. In their two losses this year, West has allowed an average of more than 440 rushing yards, so Mitchell thinks the Tigers will be able to attack the Trojan defense with Barkley Hill, one of the top backs in 4A.

Cedar Falls can lock up at least the #2 seed on 4A’s east side with a win. A loss will likely drop them back to the 4th seed.
