ADM fires 46 workers in Clinton

February 13, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Archer Daniels Midland is splitting with a firm that was to manufacture bio-degradable plastics at a plant in Clinton — and it means job cuts.

The ADM company announced 43 workers at the plastics plant have lost jobs due to the business move. Another 46 workers at the plant will remain as ADM works on preparing the new facility for an idle period.

Company officials say they are exploring option for the facility they are calling a world class facility capable of producing a variety of products.

The company announced the possible cuts at the Clinton polymer facility in January, stating this decision is not a reflection of our ADM employees in Clinton nor the high-quality work they have done.

The polymer plant is just one part of ADM’s corn processing complex in Clinton. ADM has approximately 1,000 employees in Clinton.
