Waterloo man dies in motorcyle/deer accident

August 6, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A Waterloo man was killed in a motorcycle crash near Oelwein last night. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 47-year-old Dean Cox was riding east on state Highway 281 in Fayette County around 9:00 when he collided with a deer.

Cox and his passenger, 31-year-old Tonya Fields were both thrown from the motorcycle. Cox was then struck by an oncoming van. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, where he later died. Fields was also taken to Mercy. There’s no word on her condition.
