U-I police investigate report of sexual assault

September 7, 2012 By Matt Kelley

Police are investigating a report of a University of Iowa student being sexually assaulted on campus. University of Iowa director of public safety Chuck Green says the female student reported she was near the Biological Sciences Library when she was attacked just after 9 p.m.

“The victim reported she was walking alone along the south side of Jefferson Street when she was pulled from behind into an alley and sexually assaulted,” Green said. The victim sustained minor injuries, according to a press release.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20s, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 220 pounds with short hair. The victim said the suspect has a scar over the left eye close to his temple and no facial hair and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and sweat shorts.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call University of Iowa police at (319) 335-5022.
