Davenport police investigate fatal shooting

October 15, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Davenport cops are investigating a shooting death. Police responded to the report of a shooting a little after 9 Friday night at a house in the central city.

A man identified as 36-year-old Mario Lira was found in the basement and pronounced dead at the scene. He was visiting and did not live in the house. Police say there were a number of people in the home at the time of the shooting, but some left before officers arrived.

Investigators say the shooting may have resulted from an accidental discharge.
