South Winneshiek schools locked down after gun fired

October 16, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Gunfire has led to a school lock-down in northeast Iowa. The South Winneshiek School District remains in a precautionary lock-down after a gun was fired in Ossian this morning.

South Winneshiek Superintendent Chris Hoover says he was advised by authorities to lock-down all buildings in the district after a gun was fired in Ossian around 7:30 a.m. Hoover says all students and staff are safe.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed deputies are looking for two subjects with outstanding arrest warrants in southeastern Winneshiek County. Authorities say the subjects are considered armed and dangerous.
