Mason City man charged in death of son

December 28, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A Mason City man was arrested Thursday after the death of his seven-month-old son this fall. Police say they were called to a Mason City residence on the afternoon of October 27th to a report of a child not breathing. Officers discovered a child was unresponsive and was transported to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, where the child later died.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy and ruled the death was a homicide. After an investigation by Mason City police as well as the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, 29-year-old Kenneth Adams was arrested and charged with child endangerment resulting in death. That’s a Class B felony punishable by up to 50 years in prison.

Adams at last check was being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $25,000 bond.
