Iowa wrestlers travel to Illinois

February 8, 2013 By Todd Kimm

The second ranked Iowa wrestling team is on the road, tonight, to take on eighth ranked Illinois. The Hawkeyes top ranked 125 pounder Matt McDonough will put his 42 match win streak on the line against third ranked Jesse Delgado. McDonough’s last loss was an overtime setback to Delgado in December of 2011.

“It’s a tough opponent…last year we had three matches and every single one of them was a dogfight and I don’t expect any different,” McDonough says.

McDonough beat second ranked Nico Megaludis a week ago to remain unbeaten. “It’s a good test of what you are going to face at the NCAA tournament, you are going to have a tough opponent every single match,” McDonough says.

Iowa is 6-0 in Big Ten duals and 16-1 overall.
