Southeast Iowa murder trial set to begin Tuesday

An case against an accused killer in southeast Iowa is set to go to trial. The first-degree murder trial of 21-year-old Seth Techel is expected to get underway in Wapello County District Court in Ottumwa next week.

Techel is charged with murder and nonconsensual termination of a human pregnancy following a shooting at the couple’s rural Agency home on May 26th of last year. Techel was arrested and charged four days after the incident.

The trial is expected to begin next Tuesday morning at the Wapello County courthouse with the selection of a jury. Techel remains in the Monroe County jail in Albia on a $75,000 bond.
