Sailboat found, but Iowa man missing in Florida

March 25, 2013 By Matt Kelley

An Iowan is missing after a boating trip in the Florida Keys. Sheriff’s officials in Monroe County, Florida say 49-year-old Mark Polaschek failed to return from a sailboat trip off Key Largo last Friday.

The Davenport man was vacationing there with his wife and 6-year-old son. A press release states Polaschek’s wife told investigators her husband was not an experienced boater and she reported him missing after he failed to show up Friday evening.

The sailboat was discovered Saturday morning, but there’s been no sign of Polaschek. Authorities say there was no evidence on the boat to indicate what might have happened.
