Man arrested at mother’s home in Boone after short standoff

May 9, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A police standoff in Boone ended about 3:30 this morning when officers entered a home on the city’s west side. Boone police commander John Sloter said officers were able to take 33-year-old Joshua Don Daniels into custody without incident.

Daniels was wanted on two felony warrants, one from Boone County and the other from Story County. Daniels had walked away from the Curt Forbes Residential Facility in Ames earlier this week.

He made his way to Boone and was holed up in his mother’s home. Sloter says police were notified about 8:15 Wednesday evening that Daniels was at the residence.

Daniels was barricaded in the house and Sloter said repeated attempts were made to communicate with him before police entered.
